BIO

My first commissions began in my first year of primary school, drawing cartoon characters on birthday cards for my classmates. Like any fledgling artist, I made no money. Drawing became my obsession. I would draw in every class at school, regardless of the subject.

I disliked art classes at school because they made me use paint instead of pencils or pens. It wasn’t until I moved to Barcelona at the age of 24 that I fell in love with oil paints, inspired by my beautiful girlfriend and long suffering muse Emily, who bought me my first ever easel and introduced me to the artistic wonders and fantastic artists of the city, as well as posing for my hundreds of paintings of her.

Within a few months of living in the Catalan capital I was accepted into my first exhibition and sold my first few paintings. Commissions followed, mainly portraits, and after putting on my first solo show where a number of large pieces sold, I continued to sell paintings from the same venue for the duration of my time in the city. I joined the art collective Umano, and we put on numerous large, multi-disciplined exhibitions in the warehouse we occupied.

In 2016 l was invited to have a painting feature in an exhibition at a TEDx Barcelona event, my first involvement in a major European exhibition. I moved back to the midlands in 2019 (via a brief but idyllic stay on a goat farm in Portugal) and put on my most successful solo show to date, selling sixteen paintings.

In 2023 I placed fourth in a nationwide art competition and won the Boomer Art Prize. Now residing in East London, I continue to exhibit my work and sell my paintings, working from my archway studio in Hackney, where I also put on my UNDERBELLY exhibitions (more info on the UNDERBELLY page).
